Open Water Swimming
CLAIRE STABLEFORTH
Open-water swimming is a deeply enriching practice with multiple associated health benefits, including improved sleep and mood, reduced stress and anxiety, and an overall boost in vitality and well-being. Designed by Capability Brown and overlooked by Castle Ashby House and the Norman Church of St Mary Magdalene, the lake at Castle Ashby is a magical setting for your supervised open-water swim. Just a five-minute drive from The Falcon Hotel, the 500-metre course is fringed by water lilies, adding to the serenity of your experience. We provide dry robes and swim caps for your one-hour session. Open-water swimmers must wear a tow-float for the duration of their swim; tow floats are available at the lake free of charge.

It was during the stillness of Savasana that Dana first heard the quiet whispers awakening her to a journey of eating disorder recovery and sobriety. In gentle Vinyasa classes infused with this philosophy, Dana guides students to link breath with motion to create a practice of moving meditation. Students become ever-more present to the ebb and flow of change, embodying the physical discipline of asana as they embark upon their own paths of healing. Spiritual alignment is the central theme of Dana’s teaching and practice. -

Lady Northampton’s individual and group forest therapy walks on the Castle Ashby Estate integrate gentle psychotherapeutic awareness, poetry, and trauma-informed invitations to notice what is present, share when words feel right, and honour silence when they don’t. In the safe, reflective spaces Lady Northampton creates, the forest itself is welcomed as a co-therapist alongside language, presence, and attentive listening. Within this calm, respectful setting, people meet themselves and the living world at their own pace.
